FIAM ITALIA was founded in 1973, the first company to produce furnishing items in curved glass. Thanks to its technology and partnerships with top international designers, FIAM has become a leader in this industry and some of its products are on display in twenty-five museums worldwide. After overseeing the restoration of Montegridolfo, a walled town dating back to the 7th century B.C., in 1992 Vittorio Livi (the owner of FIAM) purchased and renovated Villa Miralfiore, a historic building in Pesaro constructed in 1260.
XAVIER LUST, an internationally renowned designer, has created few products for the FIAM. It was founded in 1969 and studied Interior Design at the Institut Saint-Luc before opening its own studio in Brussels, the Xavier Lust Design Studio, which operates in four areas of design: furniture and accessories of industrial production, limited editions and pieces for the art, interior architecture, industrial design and street furniture. In 2000, Lust began designing for MDF Italia, a relationship currently in existence that represented for the designer the beginning of collaboration with leading international producers such as Driade, De Padova, Baleri Italia and Extremis. What distinguishes his works is the visible tension that gives objects and curves inspired by his innovative process of deformation of metal surfaces. He received dozens of awards including the Compasso d'Oro. His works have been exhibited in over 50 exhibitions and are a constant in international design publications. He is regularly invited guest lecturer at the main art and design institutions around the world.
