FIAM ITALIA was founded in 1973, the first company to produce furnishing items in curved glass. Thanks to its technology and partnerships with top international designers, FIAM has become a leader in this industry and some of its products are on display in twenty-five museums worldwide. After overseeing the restoration of Montegridolfo, a walled town dating back to the 7th century B.C., in 1992 Vittorio Livi (the owner of FIAM) purchased and renovated Villa Miralfiore, a historic building in Pesaro constructed in 1260.
MARCEL WANDERS is the Dutch designer who created Pop and Lollipop piece for FIAM. Wanders was born in 1963 in Boxtel, in the Netherlands. After attending the Eindhoven Academy for a short period, he graduated with honours from the Arnhem Institute of Art in 1988. Marcel Wanders opens his studio in Amsterdam in 1996 and today is considered one of the best studies in the field of product and interior design. Marcel Wanders' main concern is to bring back the human touch in design by leading him into what he calls "New Age" of design in which designers, craftsmen and users come together. In his creative process, Wanders challenges design dogmas, preferring a holistic rather than a technocratic approach. In this universe, the coldness of industrialization is replaced by the poetry, fantasy and charm of different eras that are brought back to life in the contemporary world.
