FIAM ITALIA was founded in 1973, the first company to produce furnishing items in curved glass. Thanks to its technology and partnerships with top international designers, FIAM has become a leader in this industry and some of its products are on display in twenty-five museums worldwide. After overseeing the restoration of Montegridolfo, a walled town dating back to the 7th century B.C., in 1992 Vittorio Livi (the owner of FIAM) purchased and renovated Villa Miralfiore, a historic building in Pesaro constructed in 1260.
DANIEL LIBESKIND, internationally renowned in the world of architecture and urban design, has designed several curved furnishing accessories for FIAM. Libeskind was born in Poland in the post-war period (1946) and became an American citizen in 1965. After studying music in Israel and New York, becoming an acclaimed soloist, he decided to leave everything to devote himself to the study of architecture. He graduated in 1970 from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York and in 1972 he also obtained a Masters in History and Theory of Architecture at the Comparative Studies at Essex University in England. Daniel Libeskind's ongoing research to expand the boundaries of architecture by adopting a multidisciplinary approach reflects his deep interest and involvement in philosophy, art, literature and music. The cornerstone of his approach is the idea that each construction evolves through human energy and coherently addresses the broad cultural context in which it emerges. His professional experience extends from buildings for large cultural and private institutions - including museums and concert halls - to convention centres, universities, residences, hotels, shopping centres and villas. He has also created sets for operas and maintains an industrial design research department. In addition, Daniel teaches and lectures at universities around the world. Today he lives in New York with his wife and business partner Nina Libeskind.
