Spring / Summer Interior Design Trends 2017

When it comes to home decor, 2016 was the year of variety from woven wall hangings to Scandinavian-inspired interiors. As 2017 is now in full flow, we will be taking a look at the interior design trends that will be influencing our homes. We’ll be exploring the top decorating trends that will likely be on repeat in homes across the country, and possibly in your own abode.

Take a look below at our list of top interior design trends for Spring and Summer 2017!

Terracotta

In recent months, terracotta has been reborn, modernising the look and feel of properties by utilising a range of new techniques and styles. The material has had such a surge in popularity that it has been named one of the key trends for 2017. It is not only Terracotta, used as a material, that is of interest, but also the striking colour of Terracotta that can be introduced to a range of surfaces, making this trend easier to achieve on a  smaller budget.

Unlike in the 80s, they aren’t used as border tiles. Instead they will have a natural matte finish and be used as feature walls in bathrooms or for cladding fireplaces.

Cork

Cork is not only a stylish material that adds warmth and texture to spaces, it is also ideal for absorbing noise in our increasingly large, open plan homes. Cork can also be used in the design of coffee table bases which when combined with stone tops achieves some stunning effects. When used as a solid material, cork can be utilised to design stools and sides table.

A cork wall will liven up and add warmth to any area in your home. Whether in a home office, a kitchen, or a living room, you can use it as a pin board for treasured pictures and reminders. It is recommend to combine cork with deep natural colours such as dark olive green.

If you’re not too keen on the idea of using green in large doses, a suggestion was made to add really fun emerald glasses to your regular white plates and suddenly you’ve got that up-to-the minute look.
